Go to the View menu. Make sure “Zoom to Samples” is unchecked.

Are you using any audio effects on the multicam clip? Volume can also be adjusted globally in the inspector audio tab.

Also, is it just for this project, or have you noticed this in other projects as well?

I’m sold! This’ll work out very well for my handheld footage. I’ve never been that satisfied with the built-in stabilization.

In a secondary storyline, can’t you just use the position tool in combination with the plus and minus keys? For instance if you want to add a 5 second gap, select the clip and hit PLUS 5:00.

The Final Cut Events folder and the Final Cut Projects folder are two discrete things. So, you can see the Final Cut Projects folder on the external drive in the Finder, yes? What about the Final Cut Events folder? If you are missing the Final Cut Events folder, there is your problem. The Events folder is the meat of the project, it is where all the media used by the project is stored. The Projects folder only houses the project file itself and render files.

Doesn’t work very well most of the time. If you don’t mind spending some money on a good solution, I recommend iZotope RX. It works wonders on background noise.

Not sure if this will work, but you could use Dropbox to sync them. Just create an alias to the Motion Templates folder and place the actual folder in the Dropbox directory. I suppose you could do this for export and color presets (which are located in ~/Movies/Final Cut Events/Color Presets).

Just use a connected clip, but place it under the outgoing clip in the timeline so you don’t see the Ken Burns shot until the effect has started. Like so:

Nice. I was also getting a little annoyed with those disclosure triangles. This will speed my organizational tasks up a bit.

It’s probably because they’re unrendered. When you copy and paste into a new project, you will need to re-render those parts. You can tell what is unrendered by the orange bars above your footage in the timeline.

What about turning the other projects into compound clips, blading, then copy-pasting those pieces into your new project? If you don’t want to mess up the original projects, just duplicate them (Duplicate Project Only) then perform this trick on the duplicated versions. Then do a “Break Apart Clip Items” on the compound clips you copied over.
