[Matjusm] “I’d personally like to see some control over extrusion. Adobe should enable you to stretch things in Z-depth, thereby making them 3D and giving them depth. “

Yeah *flame has had this since around 1996, called “bicubic” in thier world. I’d say thats a good example of a feature around 1000 AE artists have asked for, for years, that Adobe is still “considering”.

There’s a survey on the Adobe site, where you can rank your preference of upcoming features.

Just make sure to select pro features like 3d import and improved media management, and NOT rook features like pre-built templates and tighter iMovie integration.

DOES anyone from Adobe ever pay attention to these forums???

Yah thanks for the responses, this is a good thread.

Definately going to take yr advice on the paired-up RAM.

I have to imagine my problems have been stemming from lack o’ RAM.
BTW – in answer to earlier questions: I tend to work very clean / straightforward, None-Compression Movs, I never import MPEG or other off formats, I don’t rum alot of other programs, and when I do work with image sequences, I load them locally not from the server.

I’ve tried the Nucleo before, never saw the benefit of that. Seems like the multiproc alone is more bug-free, and just as quick.

“You should at least let Kurt know that his attitude wont get him answers any faster. ”

hah, yeah but if I’m not being a dick you guys never respond…

This thread WAS actually very helpful, so thanks all. I think there should be a tutorial / forum just on setting up the Memory in AE8
    🙂

So how much RAM should one have when working on 2k files…? 8GB 16GB? 1TB?

since AE8 is 32bit, does more than 8 really do anything. If its worth it, I’ll pay anything to never seen that stupid BeachBall again.

    thanks!

if you’re working in AE 8 you’ll want at least a Terabyte of RAM for anything more than 2k resolutions, otherwise you’ll get out of memory errors. Super nice feature of AE8

probably just drag the aep file from the finder into your project. (instead of going thru the Import dialog box).

Or maybe turn off the “relative” check box..? I’ve always found the C4D to AE import to be janky, and annoying, but be persistant and you should get it.
I think Maxon let some rookie program that function of the app.

November 20, 2007 at 8:12 pm in reply to: Can’t MAKE PREVIEW!

well thats an interesting idea. My frame size was set to 4×3, so that shouldn’t be a prob, but I messed around with some settings in the Render settings window, and also changed the preview format to be something other than Animation, and now it works

still, Not really sure how it got fixed. It would be nice to have a definite answer.

    thanks

    thanks for you help.
