Ok, I’m having a similar and yet baffling problem.

Only some of my clips have green dots. They were all shot 720P, 29.97; the sequence and project settings are the same. All of the clips were shot consecutively, same day, no change in the camera settings. It just randomly changes, first half of the sequence has dots on all the footage, second half does not, except on the last transitions (cross dissolves into the filler). Those transitions have dots.

Any suggestions? I’m confused. I understand that rendering will get rid of them, but why are they there in the first place?

Thanks Andrew and thanks Michael! They help a lot, I’m about to go edit on FCP tomorrow so I’ll give those a shot. Very helpful indeed–that’s totally new information to me about keyboard trimming in FCP.

Yes! That’s a bug I have when I go from PPro to FCP… I miss the ability to cut with a key rather than click.

I also miss the ability to trim with the keyboard using JKL and m,./ Is mouse-trimming the only way to trim in FCP?

Hey–
I’m in the same boat… I have a project where one camera shot HD, and the other DV (though both 16:9). For the preview, we just down-converted all the HD to a regular exported mpeg, but now that it’s been approved we’d like the HD to remain HD and wonder what to do about the DV stuff! Out of a total of 6 DVDs, this is what we have:
1- combined HD and DV, back and forth…
2- just HD
3- combined HD and DV, back and forth
4-6 just HD…

How would I go about up-converting the DV to fit my HD format? Is that the best option???

With what you said with your question, that’s what I have done for the same issue (pasting the motion settings and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiting). Seems like the easiest way!
