Mate, the file size will vary depending on the compression rate applied. Can you be more specific? What editing system are you using and what is the desired end result/output format? Are you the editor? Are you cutting offline or online?

All of these are required to answer your question accurately.

    Best quality is always uncompressed.

Please specify PAL/NTSC/SD/HD and what editing system you’re using, also what your images have been shot on.

Bob is correct. I have the 19HS adapter. I have a short 9pin cable that goes to a small RS232 to RS422 converter and then another 9 pin cable to the deck. It’s really annoying when I have the Kona 3 BOB racked up under the Avid DX and the 9 pin connection on the AJA is staring at me all day…. laughing.

What sort of image content are looking at? I had some problems with an EX3 shoot at a concert which showed itself as rolling bars down the screen. Is this in the ballpark of what you’re experiencing?

I had this problem once too…. absolutely killed my Mac until I figured it out. It was an Arabic font that did it for me, which sucked because I had a Middle Eastern airline as a client at the time. I’d suggest removing them all (except the system fonts) and add in a bunch at a time until you isolate which one(s) are the problem fonts.

Just checking the obvious things… is your project set to the same standard as your video (PAL/NTSC)? It could be trying to transcode when it burns. I know with Toast it defaults to NTSC, as do most American made products.

If there is a legal issue it’s certainly not yours as you’re just a hired hand. But I have to say, no disrespect to the OP intended, but if I hired you to work for me and you came on a public forum and started talking about my business like this, without knowing the background circumstances (there may or may not be any)….I’d fire your ass.

It’s very unprofessional to do what you’re doing here.

If it’s already 720×576 then Avid shouldn’t be resizing it at all, it’s native PAL. What resolution are you importing at?
