my friend said it is AVCHD MTS file. it would be great if fcp 7 or x can edit it natively but my understanding is that it is not good idea. what do you think?

August 11, 2012 at 3:47 am in reply to: Can MacBook Pro handle 250 hours of ProRes Footage to editthank you for your response, Shane. Even though FCP X has a wacky interface, do you think it would be better for that fact it will run smoother since it is 64bit application or doesn’t make that difference since the editing will be simple cut and dissolve only?

Jeff, thank you for posting the video.
but it still show you that key is unlocked with step in by arrow way.
I have to shoot the video one more time with step in by arrow way, then.
i will post in on monday!! -
I apologize for the delay.
here is the video.
I started recording from importing the quicktime movie with alpha channel and i didn’t edit the video so it is kind of long and hard to watch. but it proves that my friend has this setting.

yes, he just dropped effects like timewarp, sapphire’s shake, other distortion effect to change the shape of key and fill BY DEFAULT.

Yes, I am sure. We work in the same company and he showed me. I will record a video with my iphone of this and post it next week so that you can see it.
I start thinking it is some kind of bug he happened to have.

April 14, 2011 at 5:30 pm in reply to: Can this AVID system handle 1 hour effect heavy HD project?Yes, I remember when I switched from FCP to AVID, I was surprise how AVID gives me so much problem because of RAM issue considering AVID being industry standard system. I was cutting long format show like 2 hours project on FCP flawlessly and when I am cutting even on short piece on AVIDs, it tends to give me lot of memory issue. I am not sure if it is the issue of AVID or Windows XP. (Someone told me AVID on mac works better) But FCP was running on 32bit then either and still had no problem.

April 14, 2011 at 3:02 pm in reply to: Can this AVID system handle 1 hour effect heavy HD project?Hi William,
thank you for your response. I was not sure because of my experience with AVID Newscutter. Like I mentioned in the previous post, AVID Newscutter on Windows XP system can only handle 10-15 minutes of sequence (at least where I work). What I mean by “can’t handle” is that the the memory usage goes up quickly to 50-60% and I started getting lots of error message and had to relaunch the program to clear the memory maybe every 1 hour depending on what you are doing.
Based on your response, I guess this is unique problem to Newscutter then.
any other thoughts?
