Hi Scott,
Try Western Digital. I have been using them for quite some time. The first drive I bought 6 years ago is still going strong.
Cheers.

August 16, 2012 at 5:33 pm in reply to: Omnidirectional vs cardiod vs hyper cardiodHi Beor,
Based on your requirements, I think your best bet is a shotgun mic. Someone suggested a dynamic mic. Although not a bad choice, the result of a dynamic mic mounted on a camera three or four feet away from the source, obviously will not give you the same results as a condenser mic in the same situation. If you can, experiment with both options to see which one you like best. You local guitar center may accommodate you. It’s even better if you can borrow the mics from someone you know.
Cheers.

Hey Larry,
I use Native Instruments Komplete 8. There are about 50 instruments you can pick from. I don’t know what is your price point but I think it’s worth the money.
Cheers.

Hi Ross,
TY’s advice is spot on. Did you have anything to do with the hiring of the audio technician? If yes, I will suggest you try to serve as the mediator because if this conflict escalate, you will be in the middle of it. If no, stay as out of it as possible. It may simply be a billing cycle issue.
Thanks.

Hi Steven,
I think you may have forgotten to include the video. In its place, there is only a big blank space.
Cheers.

Thank you for sharing this. A wise engineer once told me that one can never be too careful whether in the studio or on set as we are always a knob away from disaster.

January 2, 2012 at 5:05 pm in reply to: Pro Tools Mix Not Syncing in PAL video project.Hello David,
Sounds like you have a tricky one on your hands. I will suggest first to check the settings of the Pro Tools session. I suspect your sound mixer will not see any problem in his session but if you can have him or her align the video playback framerate in Pro Tools with your original export, that may solve the problem. I had the same issue a year ago and this was the fix. I hope this helps.

Hello David
IK Multimedia’s T-Racks 3 will do the trick. Just to make sure I was not off the mark, I loaded about 20 SFX files into it, used one of the presets, and just batch-processed all the files. It worked well. Other in-the-box mastering solutions such as Wavelab may also work. However, I can only speak for T-Racks 3. I hope this helps.

Hello James,
Your friend should be able to import an OMF file into DP. Which version of Digital performer is he using? I know that versions 6 and later support OMF imports. So before you export the OMF, I suggest to confirm with him.

November 29, 2011 at 9:44 pm in reply to: Trying to throw together a basic ProTools systemYou are correct Paul, inputs 5-8 should work fine with a line level signal. There are also the 8 ADAT channels and the 2 SPDIF channels in case you have a mic-pre that comes with better AD converters.
