    Hi,

the six-vector-tool in baselight is a prebuilt collection of hueangle-keys (of course the qualifying can be modified) + a simple kind of curve-tool for desaturation. You can change hue, saturation, luminance for each of the qualified colors.
The impact of your arrangement depands on the qualifying.
The advantage of this tool is, in my opinion, mostly given from the Blackbord, where you have a very handy direkt access to all parameters. And it allows to adjust 6 colors + desaturation depending on luminance in only one tool of only one layer.

    Hi,

yes, that’s a way. Put in in a layer-node and control (mix) the effect via the key-tab. Tinting the BW could be an intersting thing…

September 29, 2011 at 5:18 pm in reply to: HP Dreamcolor Gamma setting?

    Thanks for the interesting link.

    A quote from the EBU-tech3320:
“The television system has been deliberately designed with an end-to-end system gamma of about 1.2, to provide compensation for the ‘dim surround’ effect [6]. Therefore the Tech 3320 User requirements for Video Monitors in Television Productionmonitor gamma is not, and never has been, the inverse of the camera gamma.”

I guess that’s within the meaning of the creators of Rec 709.

But anyway – if your clients like to watch a display gamma 2.2, you better switch your dislay to 2.2

    Hi,

sorry but I have to say:
Gamma 2,4 is the right gamma to display rec 709 (2,35 is recommended by EBU).
There is no need to change in this case!

Sorry, I have to complete my last sentance : or to correct it in a node to legal range. Assuming you are displaying full range.

    Hi,
    h
to my knowledge any Lut, which is applied in the config-tab, will affect only the 10Bit-values.
BM please correct me if I’m wrong.
Every part from a legal scaled video outside of the 64-940 range will be expanded to levels outside the full range (0-1023). You can recover this levels with the correctors but not with a Lut (in my experience not with a Lut generated in resolve with a corrector-node).
So the only way to display a full pluge is to import it in a rgb-format that contains a legal ranged signal.

    Regards

    Knut
