There is a nifty feature built right into the plugin that allows you to either use the Comp framerate, or specify your own.

I’ve got render multiple frames disabled, though I’m on a dual core processor, I’ve always had issues with that option, so I should be using all 6 gigs on a single core.

What I ended up doing is lowering the keyframe rate of Sound Keys to 15 and that worked. I thought about going back and doing one range at a time at 30fps, but I’d gotten far enough in the project that I didn’t want to mess anything up.

Well a VOB is a Video OBject, it’s similar to an AVI in that it can contain multiple audio, video, and subtitle tracks within the single file. With DVD’s the VOB’s are split to be less than 1 GB (they’re always 32KB less than 1 GB.) Each VOB contains the video, audio, and, and subtitles for that section of video, with multiple audio tracks for the different languages. French, English, and Spanish are in this particular DVD (Avatar). French seems to be the first track for the first VOB chunk, but in the second VOB English is the primary track, the third is different again. Is there no way to control which audio track is playing in After Effects?

I have this same issue when I’m importing video files that I’verecorded with my capture card. It records from component video and fiber optic audio to an M2TS container. There are 3 tracks of stereo audio to get the 6 total tracks for 5.1 audio, but I have no way of telling After Effects which track to use.

By FCP studio do you mean Final Cut Pro? If so then I have to stop you there, I’m on Windows.

Ok, thank you very much. I just wasn’t sure if the compression was going to cause a loss of quality, but if it’s what I should be using then I guess I will!

    Thanks for the help!

Do I lose sound quality? Is AC-3 a good intermediate file for use with bluray and dvd authoring? Is there a better format to use to get the 5.1 surround? Is WAV capable of 6 channels? I heard that AAC was 5.1 capable.

Well originally it defaulted opening in Quicktime, but quicktime wouldn’t play it. It said it needed some plugin and took me to a page to download it but there was no plugin there for AC3. I thought that it was supposed to be uncompressed, why would it go from 108 MB total for all 4 original files to 10.5 MB for the AC3? That’s compression.

Nevermind, I’m stupid. One more question though, what format do I render it into? All 4 of the files together are 108 MB but when I rendered to an AC3 file using the Doly Digital AC-3 Studio plugin with the 5.1 Surrond DVD preset, I got a 10.5 MB file that, when played in Windows Media Player, wasn’t 5.1. What do I do?

How do I disable or enable certain speakers? For me I can only move the little diamond around.

  • All I have uploaded is the full WMV, but here’s the link to that:

It’s rather large, sorry, it’s HD.
