Thanks Burt. I guess you could call it a “senior moment” even though I’m not a senior!
Just blanked out momentarily on that one. 🙂

We have been with “The Executive Producer” from Imagine for over a decade, updating as necessary. No problems whatsoever with integration. We couldn’t live without it at this stage.

OK! I’ll look into the Metasan solution as well. I feel privileged to have gotten advice from some of the “top cows”. Thanks to all!

Thanks everybody.I am going into this thing carefully. It would be a big plus to be networked but I do realize that it’s not an easy task. I am in fact an editor and not an IT geek. I’ll heed everybody’s advice (not lastly waiting til after NAB). I want to do it right (but as cost effectively as warrants for our needs). Thanks again.

Thanks Mark. In fact I have already written to 2 companies following up on Jordan’s advice. I wasn’t doubting it. Actually I hadn’t thought of posting here until I read the post below that I mentioned. Thanks for your reply.

    Thanks Stephen,
Worked like a charm. So darn easy…! I feel pretty priveleged to get a response from THE Stephen Smith. I am a true fan…Your tutorials are outstanding. With so much to multi tasking as an editor today, it’s great that there are people like you that share techniques and tips so skillfully. Keep them coming! …And yes I’m going to purchase the latest DVD 🙂 Cheers!

March 3, 2008 at 10:19 am in reply to: Boris Text Generator Missing in FCP 6.0.2

    Hey Paul,
this happened to me too. Got the following solution from Boris support. Fixed the issue immediately.
Note: the link at the end doesn’t work if you use Firefox. Access it from Safari.

Here’s the long and the short of it. The four bundle files that make up the
Boris titling application called Calligraphy rely on the operating system to
flag them as bundles instead of folders. In some cases (like if you update
FCP or your OS) these bundles get mislabeled as folders, therefore FCP can
not “see” them and you loose your titles. The fix for this is simple. Below
is a link to where you can download a set of new bundle files that identify
themselves as bundles. Once you’ve downloaded them, locate the FCP plugins
folders here: Hard Drive>Library>Application Support>Final Cut Pro System
Support>Plugins. In there you should find the four FOLDERS named: “Text
    Scrambler.bundle”, “Title 3D.bundle”, “Title Crawl.bundle” and “Vector
Shape.bundle”. Delete those FOLDERS and replace them with the FILES you just
    downloaded.
    That’s it.

Please let me know if this helped or if you have any other questions.

Thanks for all the great info. I just saw the TV Logic monitor today (both a 24″ and 7″). I had never heard of them before but saw it mentioned in the FCP Cow forum and realized there was a distributer nearby. But I’ll have a look at the Panasonic too.
thanks to all for taking the time to offer advice and suggestions.

February 28, 2008 at 9:54 pm in reply to: Good field monitor for the HVX200

Thanks for all the info. When I said E to E I meant it as “electronic to electronic”, meaning, can I monitor the HD signal straight through the camera. The reason I asked is because I don’t see an “HD” output on the camera. Am I correct in assuming that the component output is the HD output? Sorry if that’s a dumb question…
I opened up a new thread since the other one below seemed to be focused more towards a low cost solution. While I’m by no means on a big budget I wanted to other options even if that means paying a little more.
I am working in a digi beta SD facility and am finding the HD jump a bit daunting. There’s alot to wrap your mind around! That’s why we started with the HVX200, to get our toes wet while seeing where the technology goes as well as figuring out a valid workflow and archive solution.
