  • thats a shame because it would make a great addition to a grading toolset…hint hint hint…..

  • how can anyone be expected to grade 130 hours of material in 7-10 days…..that’s insane…..unless its all the same setting, but then you still have to render and that would take around about 2 weeks

only problem i found was when i wanted to render in color and had to keep setting the render directory for every project. previously it would default to a selected for all projects but now every new project has to have the directory set or nothing will go into the render queue…..

at first my machine wouldn’t even boot…but when i did a safe boot it reloaded the os and now everything is fine…no real speed differences. so far my only real problem was the stupid mouse up and down direction, it has been changed…when you want to scroll up you have to drag the mouse down…very dumb but you can turn it off. and my magic trackpad is a bit sluggish when spreading out the timeline in color with a reverse pinch or whatever you call that move where you unpinch with 2 fingers…i love the way it was before…so easy to just zoom in and out of the time line in color….hopefully somebody will update magic menu for the thing and make it truly programmable.

you got to be kidding…you would need to be a rocket scientist just to figure out what goes where? altho i am warming up to resolve i still love the way color simplifies everything. if you want a secondary you just go into the secondary room and open one…then draw a shape or track it…it’s all so simple…this thing you are showing reminds me of some mad professors chemistry class with all the links to this and that…..i understand the concept but there has to be a simpler way….

i am with you here on this, but i have found a solution to what was actually my problem. if you think of nodes as really nothing more than plug ins of say an audio mixer then it starts to make sense…in logic for instance, everytime you add an effect to the mixer bus you’re really just adding another node. it all comes down to which node goes where…..in logic i had to learn that the eq plug in worked better if it went before the compressor…the same in resolve..you just gotta figure out the best way to line them up. one of the limiting things about color was if you had several secondaries opened you couldnt insert another effect in between 2 secondaries…it was either at the end or you left space at the beginning. in alot of ways the node way of working is not that different from the color efx room in color where you had to build your own “tree”. i never really liked the color fx room for that reason because sometimes it wasnt clear which effect would go where and it was alot of trial and error if you dont have a logical mind(which i sometimes don’t)…being able to insert a node in between 2 others is a very powerful tool when you come to grips with the way it works. still i wish there was a dedicated secondaries room similar to color where you can just stack (layer) your corrections….even tho photoshop is layer based you can still move the order of the layers around and that is essentially what nodes are! keep trying until the light goes on and it will all become clear to you!

just posted a reply on a previous topic regarding imac and resolve…i’ve been testing it for a week now on a i3 imac with 4 gig of ram and osx 10.6.6 and am having no problems….rendering is a bit slow but not much different to color and i get almost real time playback which also is fine for me as color never got anywhere near 25 fps on this machine…my only gripe is that i can’t get the video to display on my external monitor, but i will be prting everything to the mac tower next month anyway…
