I made the switch to start a few new projects. I was an Avid guy for 10 years, now i’d say i won’t go back unless i have to. There are some mildly irritating things about FCP to be sure if you are used to Avids, but nothing that can’t be overcome with a bit of persistance and re learning. I bought the Diana W FCP book and found it to be a great resource. It took me about a month of working on FCP for a few hours a night and now i’m very comfortable with it although sometimes some things happen and i’m not sure what’s going on. If that’s the case, i just try to repeat my error until i figure out what i did to cause it. I’m close to delivering my first show on FCP and all in all it went great. The timeline functions alone, along with the motion options with wireframe as well as always being in “segment” mode are reasons enough to switch.

Thanks for the response, I did check the manual and as far as I can tell all settings are correct, Audio Scrub is on. I’ve searched the web and found no info either, at least no one with this problem. I’m wondering if its my keyboard possibly. I’m going to try another one, but other than that I can’t think of anything else to try….guess I’m out of luck. Thanks for the help though.

Thanks for your response, I did actually search scrubbing and didn’t find the problem there.

All I said was that I knew about that stuff he suggested and that I had tried it already. He responded with sarcasm, which I didn’t find overly helpful and I responded in kind. Generally in the past people have been really cool and helpful on the board, so I was kind of surprised to get that kind of response.
ANYWAYS, I still don’t know the answer so again if anyone has a specific idea of what the problem might be, or if they have also had the same problem it would be great to hear about it…many thanks in advance!!

ok, relax. I’m just saying I tried that. I could have said that in the first post, I know. If I came off snarky there, I apologize. But in response to your comment, I know a lot of things. One thing I don’t know is why my slo mo scrubbing isn’t working, so if anyone who is a bit less sensitive has any ideas, that would be awesome, and thanks in advance.
I have searched previous posts and haven’t come up with anything, but then I’m not sure what the exact technical name of this procedure is, so I might be missing something. Also I am using a Powerbook G4 1.67 w 2 gigs RAM and FCP 5.1.2 -
yeah I know about that stuff, did it already. Still not working…any other suggestions?

Correct me if i’m wrong but there is no avid xpress support for intel Macs.

I’ve heard that SCSI’s are no longer supported for FCP, but I’m not positive.

Thanks for the info…so I think for subclips i’ll just subclip all the “host intros” let’s say with large handles and edit from that, and maybe use markers between takes. Makes more sense than each little clip.
