I have an old LX (or was it an XE?) dongle doing nowt that you can have, trouble is it was for a version 4.5 system. Don’t know if it would work on a Nubus one. Any use?

I reckon that the problems that you are experiencing are more likely due to an incompatibility in the G5/expansion chassis/P6000 set-up rather than the drives, after all I routinely edit at 180 on internal un-raided harddrives in the G4. If I can get that out of a 7200 drive on a ATA100 bus, it should be possible to at least get that from the internal drive of the G5. That said I don’t have a G5 so cannot say for sure.
As a thought. Try removing the expansion chassis etc from the G5, copy some existing media 100 media (perhaps from the tutorial ?) to the G5 hardrive or the G-Raid, download the Media 100 SW beta and try playing the media back through that. If it plays OK, it’s not the drives!

I use a Glyph DV project on my Dual 1.42 G4/ 8.22 /10.3.9 set up at 360 kb and have had no problems. I have a standard 2x80gb box (2 disks rather than the 4 media 100 suggests)which I bought after using a similar unit on a Dual 1ghz / 7.51 / 9.22 setup at a client’s facility, again with no throughput issues at 360.
I used to raid the drives under OSX but switched to ATTO software when I thought it would cure another (unrelated) issue. The OSX raid configuration is simple to set up, manage and obviously dosen’t require anu extra outlay on software.
Hope that helps!

I would go to FCP, but keep Media 100 SW on the G5 for legacy work and just to be there during the transition period. You’ll probably never need to go back, but having the option is great for piece of mind!

It is possible! A friend uses Ichat AV to talk to his folks overseas who use AIM. AFAIK AIM5.5 running under XP does the job straight out of the box.

Hi, I have the full version and find it the easiest (and usually best) way to create MPEG2 for DVDSP from Media 100 materials. It’s only part of the answer as I still get better results from Compressor on some material, but that does mean tedious adjustment of levels in m100 and hours of exporting, plus gamma correction, to achieve what hitting “Studio RGB” does in BV.
As for the Lite version, from a quick scan of the feature set on innobits web site, It is only really the lack of CBR that would hamper you in making basic DVDs. I don’t use CBR, and in fact have not had call to use many of the enhanced features mentioned yet, so maybe lite will be OK for you.
One word of warning though, from my experience and despite what innobits say, having “DV luma” checked seems to mess up the gamma just like compressor does. I always leave it unchecked.
Hope this info helps.

I am running Media 100 8.2.2 XS on a G4 1.4DP under 10.3.9 and have had no problems whatsoever (OS-wise anyway). Personally, I have always upgraded the OS as soon as it comes from apple and, again, have never had problems – though I always wait until the current project I’m doing finishes before doing so.
Many people on the list have already moved to Tiger and report no problems either.
Hope this helps!
