you’ve probably checked this (as part of above) but you’ve got DVDSP’s disc format set for PAL too ?
Also as a test can you try encoding a piece of draft media and seeing if that’s still jerky (just to rule out a field issue cropping up after encoding)

Are you working in PAL or NTSC ? When I first started to make DVDs I made a batch that looked fine on the computer monitor, but when played on anything “video” looked jerky etc. Turns out the compressor was working in NTSC and I was feeding it PAL (different frame rates etc).

Another even longer long-shot and probably something already done, but have you tried reseating the card and re-attaching the BOB?
I ask as recently I started experiencing a strange horizontal “wobble” on the picture while digitising, but only on the R-Y channel. After much head scratching and wire tracing, I removed the BOB and re-attached the connector. Problem went away.

Hi. This sounds like a field dominance problem. Compressor allows you to change the field order – try reversing it and see if that makes a difference.

OK this is a long-shot. Are you feeding Media 100’s output back in a loop to the reference input? I encountered this at a facility I freelance at that uses a centralised matrix to route signals to various suites/ edit decks. If the output of the media 100 somehow got routed back to the composite input and the system set for external genlock – it all kicked off like you described.
Hope that helps!

Hi,
This sounds like a problem that I encounter on one of my client’s V7.5 systems (which thankfully doesn’t seem to happen in the versions under OSX)
If the advice in the response above doesn’t work, it may be that your actual project/bins/timeline have corrupted. It is noticable by certain clips crashing the system when played back in the timeline, edit window, or edited. The video freezes, then the green screen of death follows. No way out except via a full shutdown/restart.
Try creating a fresh project, with bins etc and then open up the offending timeline within it. Select all and then copy/paste to the new timeline. Shut the original down and never touch it again! The same can be done with bins.
This isn’t a cure-all, but it has got me out of hole when the same has happened to me.
Hope this helps

You might want to try Bitvice by Innobits to encode when using Media100 files. Media 100 uses a different colourspace (often called StudioRGB) in its media than FCP and other applications. This leads to the overbright and washed-out look that you get when encoding Media 100 files in Compressor.
Bitvice (like Compressor) will take Media100 files encoded “by reference” and preserves the chapter markers.
Hope that helps!

Hi,
I recently had an issue with a BOB I was given. One of the audio channels was quieter than the other so I figured one of the balanced connections had come loose. Opening the Box wasn’t too much trouble, even unpeeling the thick copper foil cladding. Inside is very lo-tech and sure enough it was a wire that had just broken off. A quick blast with the soldering iron and the BOB worked good as new.If you really need a new Box don’t buy a new one – scan ebay et al, they often come up though people don’t know what they are, so you have to hunt!

According to Innobits the DV Luma is only for Apple codecs and doesn’t have an effect on other codecs such as Media100’s. I, however, have found it to have a brightening effect if I keep it checked, so I always turn it off. Out of interest, has anyone else found this ?

October 21, 2005 at 12:01 am in reply to: Sluggish UI after switching to MacOSX 10.2.8 And M100 8.0.1If I recall correctly this was an issue with 8.0 – I remember being terribly disappointed when I first installed it on my 867. Download and install the 8.1.1 update and you should notice a faster response in the UI.
