I’ll have to do some tests…maybe this weekend. I don’t know if we are correcting it somehow in our audio chain, but I don’t remember things being out of sync. I would notice 3 frames…

Anyone who has a bad taste about the H1 should use it (if they haven’t). It’s a fantastic camera. We’ve been using it since day one. I agree there are some workflow problems, but the picture is amazing.
We take it in from the camera via HD SDI and analog audio. No sync issues here. We have unfortunately done this without timecode, so that’s not good. The Convergent Devices HD-ConnectLE is in our future soon. This will enable us to keep the timecode and control over the camera.
All this said, where the heck is the deck for this camera? It’s is absolutely nuts that it’s been out for a year and it’s not supported.

November 2, 2006 at 4:58 am in reply to: A real challenge: Canon24F to SONY HDCam…any takers? When hooked up to a scope, it does say it’s a 60i stream. However, what if we bring it in via firewire and capture it 24p. Would we be losing anything or gaining anything if we do it this way?

For a nice method to hide 4×3 in a 16×9 project, watch how ESPN does it on some of their footage. It’s easy to replicate:
Put a layer of your same clip under you main clip. On the background clip, scale it up so it fills 16 x 9 as a background. Add a guassian blur to it. Now, on your top clip, if it looks better, soften your edges (or crop if you need).
Hope that helps.

It will definitely play HDV 1080i, HDV 1080-24F, and DV. I’m not sure about others. I have the H1, XL2 and the HV10. We’ve used the HDV10 for about 50 hours of loading the past 2 weeks…works great. It’s the ONLY choice for a deck right now that supports 24F. Why that is is incredible! I can’t tell you how LAME it is that Canon didn’t work with other companies to make this happen. It’s been nearly a year and still no deck support…crazy.

Uh…did I miss something?
– Removed “Limit Output Video to Legal Values” checkbox in KONA Control Panel due to inconsistent behavior and perception as a broadcast safe filter.
What’s the deal with this. Sorry to rain on the parade…but I never like updates REMOVING options.

Yes, it does this ALL the time on my system. I hope they fixed this bug in the new release, which I haven’t upgraded to yet.

I would guess it’s a sure thing it will support 24p from the SONY cameras. I’m wondering if it will support Canon’s 24F. I hope so. I want to spend money Sony, I really do.
