  • A real challenge: Canon24F to SONY HDCam…any takers?

I’m hoping someone can help with this.

We are trying to ultimately get some HDV tapes from Canon’s H1 (shot in 24F) over to Sony’s 5500 HDCam tape. Does anyone have a converter that will do this that will keep the frame rate? If we have to, we could capture it into Final Cut Pro and send it back out, but it would be easier to just go camera to Machine.

Thanks a lot for any ideas.

not going to happen in a machine to machine transfer, unless you just want to stay at 1080i60 as it is on tape.

canons 24F format is a non standard 24 frame delivery concept.

When hooked up to a scope, it does say it’s a 60i stream. However, what if we bring it in via firewire and capture it 24p. Would we be losing anything or gaining anything if we do it this way?

it’s HDV– yes it is a 60i stream only HDCAM can record only the 24 frame content without the pulldown.
