Hey Rabin, for a pro Color grading broadcast monitor like the Flanders Scientific, you need SDI which is much better. Color grading for broadcast requires a pro monitor like this. Hope this helps:)

Waves MV2, Waves Max Volume or PrPro’s Hard limiter, where you set a limit level and boost the input volume , these are the ones that come to mind:) Hope this helps Oliver.

It should show up as monitor 3 after your VGA and laptop screens.

    Hey Mike,
This is what you should do. Hook up the converter to the HDMI port. Take the SDI and plug in to your monitor. In PrPro playback preferences, the SDI monitor would show up as something like this

And you should see the pic on your SDI monitor:)

  • Yep. Should work. You can get the cheaper USB powered converter from BM:)

  • I have the hdmi to SDI connected to my MBP all the time. So that I can switch to this when using FCPX. But, yes, PrPro works great too. But I’d rather use SDI output off the Ultrastudio when possible.

  • Am using a BM Ultrastudio express. Works pretty well with PrPro. So, the UltraStudio mini monitor should work well too. Use the SDI input on my broadcast monitor. For FCP though, which keeps lagging during playback through the BM, I use a BM mini converter to take the HDMI from my MBP to the second SDI input on my monitor. For Color grading I switch back to the BM Ultrastudio while using FCP.

A single USB drive is not good. Not good at all. Get a RAID. An USB 3 RAID. Or Thunderbolt RAID, which is much better.
Edit Ready costs only $49. It does a great job of transcoding or rewrapping your files. I love ER. You’ll have to spend a bit of money, you just have to. And that would save you a lot of time and headache.
You’ll have to learn quite a bit too. Like how to differentiate between USB2 n USB3.
Caldigit, GTech, Owc make USB3 RAIDS and Thunderbolt RAIDs. I’ve used all of these and am currently using Promise Pegasus Thunderbolt RAID.
Spend a bit of money now to save yourself a LOT of trouble later:)

Oh yes. We had 6x 18GB drives a little bigger than a BlackMagic Ultrastudio HD mini. On Mac 9500s. Lol!
