Good point. Who said they can’t learn it?
Of all the negative opinions I’ve come across about FCP X, I don’t ever recall hearing anyone say they couldn’t figure out how to use it.
Some may not like the way things like the Magical Magnetic Timeline work. They understood how it works. They just don’t like it.

It makes me wonder who, if anyone does beta testing for them? Internal testing is one thing. But you really need to let users (who are willing) to test your software as well. There are some limitations with internal testing. For one, their systems are probably properly maintained. They probably do clean installs of all their software. As opposed to users you have upgraded their systems a variety of ways over time. The OS and the applications.
They are probably using the same media over and over as well. Handing the SW off to real users you’ll find issues you probably won’t find testing it yourself.

No Save As …
Why in the world they eliminated that feature is beyond me.
Save As … has got to be one of the oldest features found in the File Menu, for probably any application.
Well, except of course FCP X.

Long renders, as in longer, or it’s re-rending things?
You’re getting error messages about missing render files? Is this causing things to re-render?

Finally being able to re-size an active window from any edge is nice.
The new layout of Mail is too.
Mission control is Okay, but lost some Spaces functionality.
I thought I would never like the new “natural” scrolling. Meaning, scrolling on a Magical Mouse or Pad is now like an iPhone or iPad. I’ve been scrolling the other way since, well since you could. But, if you don’t use the new natural method, swiping between screens is backwards. I decided to give it a try and now I’m amazed I’m fully adapted to it. When I pick up my MacBook Pro it’s frustrating because it’s still running Snow Leopard.

You may not read instructions, but you write them pretty good. (is that good English?)
I highly recommend your workflow.
XDCAM Browser to copy the entire BPAV, with the CRC check on. This is for backup.
XDCAM Transfer to re-wrap the BPAV files to a new location for use in editing.
I looked at Shot Put Pro, but I found Sony’s software to work just fine.

I was under the impression that new Macs, as in Mac purchased since Lion was released have firmware changes that won’t allow you to install Snow Leopard. I recall reading some Mac Pro threads on this topic a while ago and that’s what I thought the conclusion was.

I believe if you shoot 720P60 you can conform it to 24 fps. This is basically slowing it down to 40%. In the limited testing I’ve done, I could not tell the difference between slowing it to 40% or conforming to 24fps. I guess your choice depends on what the frame rate is of your final project.
Either way, going from 60P/40% you will get great results. No new frames need to be generated.
In terms of shutter speed, again in my limited testing I found 2x shutter to provide pretty good results. I was capturing a sporting event, at night under lights. So, I was also more limited in shutter options. It also depends on whether you’re just going to slow it all down, or whether you will need to use some of the clips played back at real time. High shutter real time playback gets that Saving Private Ryan type of a strobe effect.
You can also try Twixtor. I worked with it for a while, but the material I had seemed to be too much of a challenge. A sporting event where you have fast moving action heading one way across the screen with the background moving at a different speed and then more fast action moving in the opposite direction. All this fast, opposing direction movement seemed to be too confusing for Twixtor. (or the Twixtor user, me) I also tried After Effects, Motion and FCP X optical flow as well. Similar results to Twixtor. I would wind up with some unwanted morphing when things got real complicated. But, if your material is not moving fast, then you might find optical flow to work well for you.
