Hi Bob,
Yes you did help me a while ago. Thanks to you, I got my QNAP up and running. I am gratefull for help.
I recall we had issues with getting the performance up to speed and had to try more than one FW release. But, your memory is probably better than mine, since I don’t recall where we left it at. If it has in fact moved forward, I don’t know how. Pretty sure my box is not on auto upgrade. Plus, for a long time, the system was not on the internet, I only turned that on recently.
Since we had issues getting the right FW to work for Jumbo frames, I’ve been reluctant to upgrade to a newer release.
So, my work flow has been, check the Jumbo frames, set to 9000 if necessary, start editing. Followed by “I really need to figure out how to stop checking the Jumbo frames.”
I looked through the release notes posted on QNAP for the past several releases and I couldn’t find anything related to Jumbo frames issues being address. Though the site did not go all the way back (that I could find) to my existing release.
When I launch QTS, the alert notifies me of a new FW Update, Release 4.3.6.0959
Not sure why it recomends that particular release. There are 3 more releases of 4.3.6.x after that.
Then there’s the 4.4.x releases as well. Not sure why it is ignoring those options too. I’m guessing they have a good reason for it?
I’m alway cautious about upgrading to the latest and greatest (unknow bug list) SW/FW versions. Having QNAP tell me to upgrade to a newer, but not not the newest release just makes me more nervous.
Bob, what do you suggest?

Warren,
Thanks. That seemd to work. At least the error messaage is gone.

In Hard Drive > Library > Application Support, there’s an iZotope folder, but I could not locate an uninstaller app. It just appears to be various data files.

Well, not sure I will. I’m now in the mode of … It’s not broke.
Besides, I’m still all Unifi. Router, 48 Port Switch, 5 Access Points and a Cloud Key in a pear tree.

[Salvador Garza] “config > services, enable jumbo frames and apply”
I have no idea how I missed that, as I went looking for it. I even chatted with Ubiquiti tech support, asking them specfically if I need to do anything to improve the performance through their switch. I guess “nope” means, “Hey! you’ve got to enable Jumbo Frames, which is over here … ”
There doesn’t seem to be a setting for how many frames. Perhaps enable Jumbo Frames means 9000?
Either way, thanks Salvador.
Though, with Bob’s help, the iMac Pro is now directe connected to the QNAP server and the performance is great. I guess I’ll just have to use the UniFi 10 Gbe switch to maintain heat levels in the rack.

Hi Bob,
Executive summary of QNAP call, “It’s broke. We’ll get back to you.”
After installing the RJ-45 card both you and QNAP suggested, I ran into the problem of not being able to change the Jumbo Frame setting on the card. 1500 and only 1500 was selectable. The point of today’s QNAP support session was to fix this. Which they didn’t. It’s been esculated. Again. So, the direct connect performance was the same as the performance going throught the UniFi switch.
You’ve recomended this card, so I’m guessing you’ve had success with this card. How can it be that I can’t?
I suppose it’s possible that QNAP broke the Jumbo Frame setting in the current release.
I’d like to take you up on your offer, but I don’t want to waste your time.
I’m not sure which is going to give out now. My desk or my forehead.

I had to reschedule the call for tomorrow.

Bob,
I have a call scheduled with QNAP tomorrow. I’ll let you know how that goes.
This was scheduled after they got back to me regarding the Jumbo Frame issue. They told me to update FW and that would fix the Jumbo Frame setting issue. It didn’t.
