    Thanks Mike

SD-AVI & HD, but not at the same time
    XP-Pro with all updates
    4Gb ram
    Pentium 3.4 Ghz processor
    No effects, stills etc.

I’m simply trying to rough cut some footage.

This machine performed flawlessly with version 8 no matter what effects, stills, audio sweetening etc. I threw at it.

It is really becoming an agravation!

Our Studio has used Vegas for TV spots and a one hour weekly syndicated show for some time. It is dependable, fast and it works

I have three G-raids sitting on my desk. They make very little noise at all. If I were doing VO’s at my edit station, I would worry more about the vibration than the noise. I suggest you might want to use a shock-mount on your mic. If you have to do your VO’s at your edit desk you can use your audio editor to remove any background noise.

I am confident that the G-raids will cause you no problems with noise unless you hold them in your hand with the mic. They are also excellent hard drives for video editing

    Hi again,

I really would appreciate some input from the pros to my question. I need to move on this quickly and I can’t afford to pick the wrong set-up.
    Thanks in advance

March 18, 2008 at 4:29 pm in reply to: Wierd render problem

I just rendered a 10 min 30 sec video of a single video channel with the track expanded, no graphics, no effects and it took 4hrs & 18 min in vers.7 It is dual Athlon 64’s X 2 and 2 gigs of ram. The processor showed 100% activity throughout the render. I have never had this problem before and I haven’t had time to do it again etc. But I did find the similarity to be interesting.

February 20, 2008 at 4:18 pm in reply to: best way to normalize multiple audio tracks ??

I find it much easier to to do audio sweetening in Adobe Audition. I have made it my audio editor in Vegas and it is very easy to work on audio files and it gives you the option to replace or save as a copy seperate from your original file. Vegas has some great audio apps, but I have had problems with normalizing tracks, especially if I go back and forth from normalized to not normalized.
