What do you get for your money. The speed I’m getting is a upwards of 480 MB/s in raid 5.

Herb, At home now and alittle tired, contact Neil thro the website and mention myself ( Kev at WhiteNoise)and ask him for the exact details. I paid an amazing 2,300 uk pounds everything in. Promise you nothing out there pound for pound. Walter alittle too wary I feel. Fibre channel on the way out…thank god. It’ll be ethernet next but this solution will last for years.Very quiet, fast , compact, 2 multi lane cables. and lots of lights….good to go for uncompressed HD at 10bit….oh and Raid 5. How good does it get?
    Regards

Completely agree but check out the price and do yourself a favour, oh and it works.
The support is UK based though…but I’m sure support can be arranged as most of the parts come from your neck of the woods.
Last year I was looking at the same solution and it cost 6-8 times the cost.
    Thats it,I’m going on hols.
    All the best

Walter I appreciate where you’re coming from(with your history of breaking Raids!), but this is Raid 5 solution and I have bought the 9th drive in the event of problems. Have extensively tested but will continue to give you feedback. Contact Neil and find out the cost….you’ll be really amazed. I’m surprised no one else has come across this solution at this price. All the drives are enterprise level drives which helps put you mind at rest. If anything breaks Neil will be on the case. You can’t loose your data unless you have a fire of course. If you’re looking for a solution…this just might be it.( I reposted ‘cos I thought it was along way down the list and that people might miss it) This a recommendation not an advert.

Hi Guys, thought you might be interesed.
I’ve just taken delivery of an 8 disk RAID5, 4TB system for my Final Cut Pro HD suite based on my existing MacPro Quad and I’m very impressed. I bought it from a company in the UK called Rentaraid and I’m amazed they can put together a system that has such extensive RAID capabilities for the price. It’s also physically compact and quiet which is a great bonus. We’ve done a huge amount of testing and pulled drives in and out and it’s coped without fault and rebuilt the raid. Whilst rebuilding it allows me to read and write data upto 200m/b, everything is done in the bkgd. System very fast easily enough for HD 10bit uncompressed…and safe. Neil at Rentaraid was a great help setting up the system and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
