I don’t know how I missed this thread before I posted the same question on the basic’s board. I had a sneaking suspicion that my Track 4 audio was mono – I’ll have to verify when I get home but thanks!

    Hi Henry,
Do you happen to have After Effects? If so, this is extreemly easy to do (motion tracking). If not, it’s not that hard to do in Premiere either – I just upgraded to CS3 from 6.5 (quite a leap) so I don’t want to mislead you so I’ll let others answer. If no-one does I’ll play around and make sure that I know what I’m talking about before I post..

April 4, 2008 at 9:25 pm in reply to: CS3 HDV – Audio and Video out of sync.

    Hi Dave,
I have the same camera. Is the footage you imported HD or SD – I’m assuming HD due to this post’s subject..

Anyway, I don’t really have an answer for you as when I capture HD via CS3 it does so in MPG format with keyframes that keep the audio and video in synch.

but here’s what I do – sort of a “best practice” that I started way back when using Premier 3 or so..

I capture clips that are 5 minutes or less. CS3 makes this extreemly easy with the batch capture in conjunction with the import batch list. I basically wrote a macro in MS Excel to create the csv file for me given a few parameters, then I import, click, walk away. After it’s done I simply drag all of the clips to a new sequence. I’ve found that doing this (even with SD footage imported as avi) has no problems with the audio getting out of synch.

I don’t know if this helped or not but hopefully it did..

Oh, if anyone wants the macro I can neaten it up a bit and send it out upon request..
