  • I’m having the exact same issue too, years later…
I’m using the same project file in two locations, one in my bay where the media is on a SAN, then I will move the file to my laptop and use the same copied media on an external drive.

The audio files recorded with a Marantz flash recorder are off–usually seems to be 45 seconds(!) whereas the audio files recorded with a different recorder (maybe a Sound Devices?) reconnect fine. The video is from a 5D.

This baffles all of us in the department.

Seems to be a very rare problem, but if anyone has any ideas please comment!

[Jason Coleman] “Isn’t it illegal to rip Youtube videos?”

Depends on how it is used, just like how you can use something recorded from television illegally. Doesn’t mean no one should be told how to program their DVR.

Thanks Shane, I will look into that plugin.

Anyone have a comparison opinion on VLC vs. MPEG Streamclip?

Thanks Kevin–so you’re saying the layers must be a plane–but can be at whatever angle, right? That’s what I was afraid of…

Thanks to Walter too. I heard DE could do that, but unfortunately we only have that on PC which is not in commission right now…

I just figured surely particular would be able to do anything particle playground could!

  • I have had this problem too! I’m new to AE and so not very proficient, but I know this issue is not supposed to be one.
I have a super simple Illustrator file I brought in as a comp and out of the blue it just disappears. If I click in unloaded places in the time-line, the image pops up, but as soon as the yellow load bar completes, the image disappears. The only way to fix it is to start over and bring in the Illustrator file again.
    I’m using CS5 10.0.0.458.

    Thanks for the posts, guys.
I think you two already understand each other, but I tend to lean more toward the idea of exporting self contained files. True, if you change the timeline it won’t be changed in the SC movie, but at least I will still have that master of what the sequence was like at that particular time. Plus, I won’t have to worry about saving the digital raw footage if we only archive the tapes.

Thank you so much for writing back, and you’re right that I should have clarified, and not assumed everyone knew that the Canon XL2 won’t shoot HD.

    Your answer makes sense.

So, is there no advantage to using Compressor to export for this purpose?

Editing SD–figured no sense in editing HD when we have no HD footage, or HD final products.
