One thing you can do if as a preemptive measure is create a bunch of blank layers in your Illustrator file so if you do need to add artwork in the future you can so easily. I’m not sure if the positions of your layers would shift with the introduction of new vector data, but what you could do is create a dummy layer that is the exact size of your AI canvas and just hide it inside of After Effects. I feel like shifting wouldn’t happen after that.

I’m not tracking what you are trying to do. If you duplicate your comp 3 times, you should be able to option drag things from your project panel onto a selected layer and just have it affect that comp. Can you elaborate more perhaps?

    Same Story.

See how it looks fine in the source window but when it hits the playback window it gets screwed up. You’ll need to click on the image to enlarge it to see the jagged edges and colored pixels.

I’m putting together an efficiency teach out, so thanks everyone so far.

    I’ll share a few:
Sort It: designate layers in your comp to a layer set like in Cinema 4D (much faster than toggling individual visibility parameters on complex projects)

Magnum 3: Detects edits in footage and splits into layers. We’ve all gotten a baked edit that we need to pull apart.

Paste Multiple Keyframes 2: Allows you to copy and paste exposed keyframes from multiple layers (to themselves–layer A’s keyframes will paste to layer A, layer B’s keyframes will paste to layer B, etc.). I don’t see why AE natively doesn’t let you do this. If you try to copy and paste keyframes from more than one layer, it will duplicate the layers.

Pt Effect Search: Search for effects in the project and create instances of effects so you can set just one global parameter.

    Best regards,

    Thanks, everyone!

For the ‘Move Anchor Point’ script, does it work if you have position keyframes for that layer? As you know, normally when you try to move an anchor point when position keyframes have already been defined, it creates a mess.

For the middle glowing rectangle, you can do an inner glow if it’s a separate layer or just draw the inner glow. Then you can create the outer flow by duplicating the rectangle and coloring it lighter, blurring it, putting it in a screen or overlay mode and adjusting its opacity.

For the outer lines, you can brighten or darken the lines with an adjustment layer and feather out a mask.

I mocked it up for you. Hopefully you can look at each layer and figure it out.
