    Look into MacDrive7 (google it).
    I’ve been using Vegas on bootcamp on Macpro laptop. It works.
    With MacDrive7 you can address PC drives (can be NTSF), on the Mac.

    Hi Linda. Here it is.

    Hold down CTRL+SHIFT when starting Vegas. It will restore all factory defaults. This will get rid of any presets you may have set up as well so be fore warned.

    Go into Preferences->Video and uncheck “use external video application”.
    Unchecked it will capture HDV,
    Checked it will capture DV

    I did what you did and now I don’t have the choice at opening capture, but it will capture HDV and DV as described above.

    Have to figure out how to get the initial choice back.

    I have an HG10. Produces 2GB .MTS files.
    When more than one .MTS is imported into V8, Vegas quits (some error found).
    The only way I made it work is this:
    I drag all the .MTS files from the “Explorer” directly into V8 timeline (NOT import files). I still can not edit it any length of time before V8 quits. BUT I can render the entire time line into MPG2 (DVDA stream) then I render the sound to Wav file. Then i re-Import the MPG and wav files and I can edit fine and get a great SD dvd (after rendering to the usual DVDA).

    This of course does not work to make HDdvds.

  • Need more detail: What are you rendering and what are you rendering to?

    Since I have an HV20, I hooked it up to V8. and went;
    Capture video-> HDV or SDI
    and it recognized the deck )IN capture references I can see, Capture Device HV20 and Device type IEEE card and I could capture HDV.
    So, I am not sure what may be happening in your set up, but it works in mine.
    Maybe you can describe the problem in more detail. jk

    I have the same problem with .MTS files from the Canon HG10. V8 sometimes even chokes and quits, I complained before here but did not get any feedback. Sony should listen and do something about AVCHD.
    The meantime I found a partial solution in UPSHIFT (website below). It converts MTS to m2t that works better on V8.
