I’ve used SONY EX1R for two years now for documentary, corporate, commercial and web tv material. Very good – in fact – https://web.me.com/kbcv/VideoWork/EX1R.html

Thanks for replies – what I was curious about was not wether XDcam would edit easily ni FCP timeline, I do know that it will, but rather when XDcam is transcoded to pro res HQ 422 does that just make a bigger file size with no other advantages or does it somehow also make the clip 422? ie, now better for color grading and/or effects work? Or is it that what is recorded is what is recorded and you can not make it batter quality?

Thanks – so I haven’t yet had time to color correct anything – but will that 88mbps version somehow have less to work with when color grading or is it all intact because it’s still Pro Res 422 HQ? Did the half frame rate simply reduce the mbps or are there other detriments now?

    Thanks

Thanks very much for everyone’s input…I should have 7 or 8 feet room to put screen behind him, will light the screen flat but even, will light him, even with a back light as well, if I can. I will try to shoot in a separate room, but I do want it to match seamlessly with the assembly line natural light, so we’ll see – either room or line, whichever works in post with the light.

    Thanks

No, I don’t have the series of identical shots you’re talking about…but I saw a tut on how to achieve a decent HDR look – not bad, but not the best…was just thinking maybe there was a plugin by now…but maybe I’ll fiddle and see.

    Thanks

Yeah, I thought of the stand still for 10 minutes shoot, but I can’t make the CEO do that, plus it would be very hard for him…

I think if it’s in the same exact place as the BG, within the same half hour, providing I light him and the green screen appropriately, it should come out…I really just didn’t know if I need to bother with a light kit, but probably yes.

    Thanks

Bit of a work-around but put your zooming-in clip in its own nested clip and add the 2:35:1 filter to that…might work
