Seriously at the rate Apple is going, maybe sometime in 2014 FCP X might be up to Pro snuff, with all that it should’ve had in 2011…all these hard/software people spitting out continuous BETA product is SO boring, but they control what we get, not the end user…

again, touch screen, in conjunction with voice command if/as you want it is what would be more natural, faster, better – but you’re talking another 20 years minimum – and even then they (Apple, whoever) will piece-meal it very slowly for continued revenue stream purposes. Just my 50-cents

So would the new 27-inch iMac top of the line out in Dec 2012, be a better/faster station than my MAC PRO 3.0 early 2008 with 3TB storage, 12GB RAM and an ATI 5870 card?

I’d be editing both CS6 and Final Cut Studio 3 on it.

In addition to the audio for transcription I need all 60 shots/I/V’s as well ful frame to edit – but FCP 7 won’t play well with h264’s so I want to convert all quickly to pro res 422 – I know Canon 5D, etc has a software for this but can’t find equivalent for Nikon D4 camera – is this any good?

So for the first time in my life I’ve actually taken one second to ponder, should I buy a heavy-duty PC over new MAc Pro – can’t believe I even had that thought – but Apple has become so arrogant and non-listening and non-pro anymore, I wonder what to do?

Is there an equivalent or far better PC (gasp!!!) option out there over say the new MAC PRO 3.06 12 core? What graphic card is best now for either Adobe Premiere or Lightworks?

Actually I shot the WA film at 24p, some 1280, most 1920, color graded everything by 3-way color in FCP 7 and my own custom use of MB Quick Looks and other filters – I never use a picture profile as I like to have raw shots to play with in post.

And yes, the entire kit is for sale. SONY EX1R is a great camera for what original poster wants to do.
