It is a HUGE problem. I have been pulling my hair out for days trying to render a 25 minute program loaded with multiple layers of chromakey. It takes forever to do the software render and sometimes it encodes cleanly – sometimes it doesn’t. What used to take AME 10 minutes to output on my new Mac Pro now takes an hour and there is no guarantee that I won’t have to render it again.

June 10, 2014 at 1:32 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro CC no longer compatible with New Mac Pro running 10.9.3I am also experiencing this same problem with the new Mac Pro. I am also using the workaround of turning off the GPU Acceleration and using software only.

I have seen this happen when a unit is powered down before the “Stop” button is pressed to finalize the file. Is it possible the DR-40 was powered off or the battery ran out before the file was closed? I shoot a ton of interviews and have learned the hard way to always close files every few minutes. I stop recording on my cameras (Nikon D800) as soon as the red battery light starts to flash. I once tried to wait for the subject to finish answering the question and he droned on for three more minutes until the battery died and we had to re-shoot the whole last 15 minutes of the interview. My client was not happy! Nowadays I use AC adapters on everything if I am shooting indoors.

Thanks for the reply. It’s not the same as the FCP7 mp3 crackle. I never had much luck using mp3s in FCP so I always converted them to aiff before editing. This problem in Premiere is in one channel only, and the file is a 48 kHz/24 bit wav file. On top of that – the files played perfectly in this project up until 2-3 weeks ago.

February 25, 2014 at 4:04 pm in reply to: Scrubbing in Premiere Pro CC with Ultrastudio Express?I figured it out. I had selected “Blackmagic Playback” for my Audio Device. In order to hear audio while scrubbing you also need to have “Blackmagic Playback” selected for your Video Device. This makes no sense to me, but that’s how I got it to work.

I’ve experienced the exact same thing. It will move one of the clips several minutes down the timeline. I ended up using PluralEyes in FCP7, exporting an XML of the sequence, and then importing the XML into Premiere.

Thanks for the reply Shane. I am familiar with rendering before exporting. Everything is rendered. The only parts that required rendering were the two or three titles in each sequence. There are no green (or other color) lines above the sequence. It is a ProRes 422 sequence. An eight minute sequence is taking about eight minutes to create a mov file of about 4 gigabytes. That is not the size of a reference movie. I know how to make reference movies and have been doing it since FCP came out in 1998. This is a weird problem that I cannot get to go away. I had to edit this project in FCP7 since the producer I am doing it for has not made the switch to Premiere yet. I am thinking about exporting and reopening in Premiere to see if that saves some time.

Did anyone ever find a solution to this issue? I have been having the exact same problem for about a month now. Today I have to output about 2 hours of sequences. And yes… I have tried deleting my preferences. Thanks.

I own a pair of Nikon D800 DSLRs. The D800 will roll for 20 minutes without stopping. I generally stop/start while the interviewer is asking a question. I shoot with both at the same time and get excellent results. I try to put the cameras as close together as possible and shot one on a medium shot and one on a close up.
