June 1, 2012 at 10:22 am in reply to: Tracking with Mocha – nothing happens when parented to Null object.Hi Roland, really appreciate your help on this. I managed to sort it out with some fiddling around. I found the transform export and was able to paste into a null layer and parent as originally intended.
Works a treat and very happy with the way Mocha works, I’m it’s newest fan.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Cheers.

June 1, 2012 at 8:35 am in reply to: Tracking with Mocha – nothing happens when parented to Null object.Hmmm, more oddities:
I just applied the data to the actual sky layer and it disappeared! The layer is no longer visible yet it is right there with the eye icon switched on.
If I disable the corner pin effect on the layer the sky comes back. Also the shape of the layer – the outline box does not move as per the corner pin data so it’s not like it’s not aligned with the comp window or something.
Really don’t understand what’s going on! I’m using CS6 with ProRes 422 1080p footage at 25 fps.

starts about 2:55 in.
If you check his comp you can see what he’s done and I’ve just replicated it. How do I expert/import the transform data. Noob to this app I’m afraid.

What I’m trying to do is map on some face plates I’ve got over the top of some model heads that I have. Someone has made all the material for me but I’m not proficient in any 3D app to complete the work.
I wasn’t sure how far the 3D side of things went in AE as learning a 3D app is daunting!
I’ll check out the links from Todd, many thanks.

Thanks Andy, I found the tutorials very enlightening.
I’m still having some nightmares with bits and bobs, like what happened to copy and paste attributes?
Seems it copies everything without asking and then pasting without asking, that includes filters from both audio AND video! For me that is a core and important pro feature and it appears to be missing…I may be wrong though as things are hidden and the terminology has changed. (Scrubbing is now skimming apparently)
I did like the favourites explanation. Nice to be able to set multiple in and out points on a clip then even drag down all those sub selections at once, or in any order you like.
Also what about track select. I saw in your video you just lassoed up some clips but in my test timeline I have over 250 audio edits and it’s very difficult to be zoomed out to see them all and also be able to see exactly what you’re selecting when the edits are very small – and I want to move some to the right. Are you saying that ‘create a gap’ is the new track select? How does this impact on other tracks? Whilst we’re there, how do you lock tracks, for example to lock an audio track down in a music video edit?
Many thanks for your time.

Thanks very much for all the very helpful answers.
Now I understand exactly how this happened!

Turns out that someone had swapped the monitor port on the Mac, It has a Blackmagic card and it likes to be in slot 1 of the graphics card only or it won’t see the BM one.

I take it you’ve tried a pref trash?
Can you get the cards to load if you set a custom path to the card rather than expecting it to load automatically?
I often have P2 cards not loading in and either re-inserting the card with L&T window open (after safely ejecting through Finder of course) or selecting it using the custom path options always fixes it.
