After the best part of a day I found the problem. Consolidating the material was the wrong move. I transcoded it instead, using a dnxhd codec and it went through fine but creating the AE project took some time. The original material was prores HQ and the AE pro import just didn’t like it.

I know this post is old but for others chasing their tail with this:

By default the Remove Grain filter works from frame 1 of the movie. So if you have black at the start from a timeline export, chances are it will have no grain in it and the effect won’t do anything. Simply advance the source frame parameter from the Sampling section in the effects controls tab to the frame you’re looking to reduce noise in, then the effect should work fine.

  • I’m also after a copy of Resolve Lite 9.1.6 but can’t find it anywhere. Only full version archives on the BMD forum. Can someone link me?

Did you ever, ahem, resolve this issue? I’m getting the same thing after following a tutorial and cannot get my material into Resolve for love nor money!

October 4, 2013 at 2:55 pm in reply to: Adobe Premiere CS6 Thumbnail View Refresh?

I’ve been tearing my hair out with this but if you open a bin, allow the content to populate, then just minimise, it retains the thumbnails without having to redraw and also the window size and scrollbar position which for me is paramount.

Then when you click on the bin in the project window it open the minimised window and you can go looking for clips without the wait of the hassle of opening it from scratch from the project window.

    Still need fixing!

I’ve just been trying this out, cheers for the heads up. Using VP8 in an MKV container I got the file down to under a gig with virtually no quality degradation.

It’s insane but it really does appear to work.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve been experimenting with this VP8 codec the last few days in an MKV container. Really surprising results.

I’ve been using Sorenson Squeeze which came free with my Avid MC package and I have to say it;s looking good.

So far I’ve got the file under 1GB and it looks almost identical. The audio has been reduced to 44.1 from 48 to save a bit of space too but the picture remains at 720p. No idea where the other 5 gig has gone without massive picture quality degradation but this VP8 thing seems to work!

I’ll do you guys a screen shot and you can see the results are insane. Anyone else tried this route?

  • Hi I’m having some Avid issues regards this problem. How do you turn off the hardware support from within MC6?
