    Thank you, j razz,
I did contact Sony, and they said the only way to get DVD Architect Pro was to buy the bundled version of Vegas Pro 8. This is maximally annoying because they make and offer a trial version of DVDA Pro 5.0, which I have been using for 29 days, and it’s clear that it works as a standalone software program. I already own Vegas Pro 8, so it makes no sense to buy it again. This kind of marketing strategy will backfire in this economy. I’m not trying to end run them, or use a bootlegged copy; I am ready and willing to buy their DVD application and they don’t want to sell it as such.
Razz, do you know of or recommend another DVD program that is actually for sale for American dollars? Or is it possible that the Sony DVD Architect Studio version will suffice? I don’t need any Blu-Ray capability.
    Thanks again for your response,
    Ken

Thanks, Terry. I split the event and it was easier to just select the low-vol side and normalize that. Your approach would have given me more control over the volume.
Thanks for your timely response. Ken

Thanks, Douglas. I split the event, selected the low-volume side, right clicked, chose switches and then normalize. Worked perfect. And thanks also for the “v” key. I will play with that and try to absorb its capabilities. Ken.

Douglas, when you say channels dialog, do you mean “record inputs”, because that is the only thing I see with left and right options?
I did create a copy of the audio track and selected record right for one and record left for the other. Now do I need to initiate a re-recording of the whole track? As in, arm to record and re-record the show. I tried that with my left (good) track, and it appeared to re-record the show, but the right (lousy) side didn’t go away. When I take this into DVD Architect, will it see that the left track is the one I want it to use?
    Thanks, Ken
PS, I just ordered your Vegas Pro 8 book.

PS, OH! I wasn’t selecting the track first. Sorry about that. I just selected the whole track by clicking in the first take, and then SHIFT clicking in the last take, and right clicking in the selected track to get the channels options. Works exactly as you said. THANKS!

    Thank you, Jeremy,
Your solution of rendering to MPG2 and taking the audio to AC3, and then putting both in DVDA to create a DVD worked like a charm. I was able to burn a DVD and shoot it to my client just before he had me killed for malingering.
I have a new challenge: I shot about ten minutes of B-roll exteriors on an XD-CAM Ex-1. I did not have, at that time, a SxS device to upload the footage to my PC, so a buddy who is totally Mac took my SxS chip and uploaded the footage to his hard drive. He soon needed his hard drive space, so he gave me my files on DVDs in two formats: .mov and .avi. I can’t open any of these files, or even play them in Quick Time, Windows Media Player, VLC player, or Nero ShowTime. Vegas Pro 8 won’t have anything to do with them. The original files have been deleted from the SxS chip, and also from my buddy’s HD. Now what?!
    Thanks,
    Ken
