I recorded interviews with two mics: a hand-held and a boom mic. The hand-held was great but the boom was not acceptable. The hand-held fed to the left channel and the boom to the right, to the camera media. Vegas audio is stereo audio, so audio came in on two channels. I want to get rid of the right channel, or print the left channel over the right to create mono sound, or have identical tracks on left and right channels. I tried re-recording by re-arming and choosing the left only option, but the right channel remained. I don’t want to take it into the DVD this way. Any thoughts?
    Thanks, Ken

Select the audio track. Hold CTRL and drag it to a new audio track. This will create a copy.
Now, right click the upper track and choose “Right only” in the Channels dialog.
Right click lower track and choose “Left Only.”
Now you have two mono tracks and can pick n’ choose what you want.

Douglas, when you say channels dialog, do you mean “record inputs”, because that is the only thing I see with left and right options?
I did create a copy of the audio track and selected record right for one and record left for the other. Now do I need to initiate a re-recording of the whole track? As in, arm to record and re-record the show. I tried that with my left (good) track, and it appeared to re-record the show, but the right (lousy) side didn’t go away. When I take this into DVD Architect, will it see that the left track is the one I want it to use?
    Thanks, Ken
PS, I just ordered your Vegas Pro 8 book.

PS, OH! I wasn’t selecting the track first. Sorry about that. I just selected the whole track by clicking in the first take, and then SHIFT clicking in the last take, and right clicking in the selected track to get the channels options. Works exactly as you said. THANKS!

Right Click on the AUDIO. The file. The wavy line display thing, and you’ll see a submenu. In the submenu dropdown, you’ll see “Channels”
Selecting “Channels” will give yet another submenu. Choose “Right/Left Only” in that submenu.
