The RAID contains all captured raw data and Vegas accesses the RAID for footage for editing. Each project pulls video/audio from the RAID and other data from several different drives.

Yes, all true. Something is “bugging” Vegas. But after reading these 3 replies, my next question or concern is my physical set up. I’ve always worked with RAIDs ever since they come into play way back when I was editing on VideoToaster. Mostly because I was editing with uncompressed video.
On my Vegas setup, I capture/store all my video on two external 9TB RAID-5s. These are connected to the computer via eSATA cables to a RockedRAID card that is plugged into my Sandy-bridge MOBO (which is a single 3.2Mhz CPU, 32GB RAM, WIN 7 64bit). I grab the video clips from these RAIDs and drop onto the timeline and away I go to editing. Is this good or bad? Is Vegas crashing due to communication to and from these RAIDs? When I render I render to an internal drive. Is there pros and cons using RAIDs with Vegas?

The problem turned out to be QT 7.5. This version doesn’t like these MOV file types. I updated to 7.7.5 and all video came home.

You understand my I’m not going insane. That was my first reaction, video can’t disappear for a file and leave only audio. Either the file is there or is has been deleted. The problem was QT version 7.5. Doesn’t like these MOV file types. Updated to 7.7.5. Magic! Video back.

After reading all of your posts on this, it appears that the media used may be the issue. The media in question is, JVC Taiyo Yuden Blu-Ray BD-R 25GB LTH type 6X White Inkjet Hub Printable. The key being the “LTH” (Low To High). Checking the Sony player specs, this media is NOT compatible. I’m guessing the same with my Oppo (which so far has played anything I’ve given it). My test disks, Memorex BD-RE 2X, play fine on both BD players I have.
As to burning at a slower speed, I tried burning at 2X and that disk would not even play in the burner it was burned on.
Both my Blu-ray players are due for firmware updates, though I’ve never had a playback problem due to this until now. Weather that makes a difference or not, I think using these Taiyo Yuden’s is NOT the media to go with for BD delivery.
So what brand of Blu-ray disk are you using and delivering to your client with no playback complaints?
I’m looking at Verbatim DataLifePlus BD-R 25GB 6X White Inkjet Hub Printable. Give me some warm fuzzy feeling on this choice.

I just download IMGburn and still the BD’s will only play on the computer. Will not play on any Blu-ray player.

I just tested these Taiyo Yuden Blu-Ray, BD-R, 25GB, 6X disks on the BD burner they were just burned on in the computer and they play fine. But will not play on standard Blu-ray players.
