Who is having Hourly Vegas Crashes Like I Am?
Everybody keeps pointing the finger (some times the middle finger) at my Quadro 4000 card. Others are having no crashes at all with this card. I’ve tried all the suggestions posted here to no avail. Something in WIN 7 64bit + Q4000 + BlackMagic DeckLink card + Vegas Pro 12 is not compatible.
Also on my system is Adobe Suite CS5 and Boris Red. I have tons of NewBlue filters installed in Vegas. I have their newest Titler Pro 2 and their ColorFast. I have Twixter too.
All the Event Log always lists “Faulty application vegas120.exe” and “Faulty ntdll.dll” in the report. One path points to “C:/windows/system/ntdll.dll”. Mostly all Greek to me.
So I’m at the end of my rope now. Something doesn’t like Vegas on this system.
More suggestions? THX

Not me.
This might sound odd for a professional who creates
numerous content and Commercials for Broadcast and television daily.
But Frankly, I no longer use any GPU or Specialized Video Card in
my editing systems…NONE…
I got tired and pissed of the whole GPU stress and simply omit it
from my systems and now im in editing heaven, Strangely enough true.Im not saying you have to follow my footsteps Ken, but with the
info given on your system and what you have installed, there are
numerous issues i see that could be causing you conflicts for Vegas.Ohhhh, where to start?….

Two things to try straight away. The most important to to roll back your Quicktime to version 7.5 I use 7.5(861)
The second is to delete the content of this file
C:UsersuserAppDataLocalSonyVegas Pro12.0Media Pool Thumbnails
These two things stopped my system from crashing immediately.
Others have suggested right clicking the SVP12 icon, clicking on properties then compatibility and checking the box Run this program in compatibility mode and selecting Windows Vista. I didn’t need this final step as the first two solved my similar issues.Let me know how you get on. I have MC6, FCPX too and would always do a project on SVP12 given the option.
I also no longer render using GPU as I have found that occasionally quality suffers and it’s not worth the risk for the time it saves.

This may be way off the problem, but ntdll.dll is a collection of “subroutines” that just about every Windows program calls. Here’s a couple of things you can try – short of reinstalling Windows.
Uninstall your browsers.
I recall that you are using nVidia, so use the free program ShellExView to turn off nvidia.cpl
