    Mike,

Yeah, I’ve made those changes. Again, it’s not a start/stop taping issue. It happens anywhere in a clip. It’s almost like FCP senses a stop/start and makes a new clip, but the camera hasn’t stopped or started; it’s been rolling tape the whole time.

    Hi Chris,

I don’t see how it could be an Intel issue, but something isn’t right. It’s not just on stop/start, which I would of course expect. It’s utterly random in how it happens — it can be right in the middle of an interview or take. No rhyme or reason at all. It’s not a preroll or postroll problem — it just decides, during the capture, to break a clip and start a new clip, leaving the accursed gaps.

I, too, would much prefer to use FCP. That’s what’s so frustrating. On the JVC section of the DVinfo board, there’s much discussion of this issue.

    Hi Tim,

Yeah, I’ve tried that. No dice.

Rafael, thanks for the link. It may be worth shelling out for the upgrade.

The capture card is the conduit through which the digital data gets into your computer. You hook your camera up to it and dump your video onto your hard drive via your capture card. The video card is responsible for drawing the information on your computer screen. They are separate entities.
