I actually went back to FCP 5 this morning and tried your settings, I think I needed to go to the latest quicktime which I hadn’t, as per your settings I did install the 7.1 update and yes it does seem to work, no batch capture is slow but at least I can work, thanks a ton.

You mentioned that you’re using DVC Pro 100, is that the same as DVC Pro HD?

    thanks, Keith

Did your computer come with Tiger? Is it the new kind that can’t work with Panther any longer? I am using the DVC Pro HD codec, maybe that could be the difference? Are you using any other offsets besides the -3 frame capture offset?

I’ve reverted back to FCP 4.5 and still have the problem, I can get audio to sync using an offset but then the Time Code will lose sync. I’ve discovered that a -7.5 gets my time code right on and has the audio out of sync by only a frame ahead of the video, not bad, it’ll have to do. Tomorrow I’ll re install FCP 5 and use that same offset and go with it’ll be as close.

I’m shooting with 2 F900s and using an F500 deck for playback. Thanks for your responces, Keith

What version of quicktime are you using? Do you have the 2.7ghz Mac? Are you using a capture frame offset of 2.5? What frame rate are you shooting? What codek are you using to capture with? Thanks, Keith

I would take a closer look at your slates, if you simply look for lip flap you may be deceived, If you’re syncing sound separate from your HD SDI feed you’ll be fine but if you’ve recorded sound in camera and are coming in via HD SDI at 23.98 using a lower res to off line you’ll see it. Good luck with your project, I’d hate to see you have to redo it all

It doesn’t even run on the latest 2.7 G5s. Hd SDI losses audio sync. go figure….

HDcam, F500, HD SDI capture, 23.976, audio embedded, Time code offset (frame capture offset) has no effect, audio and video saved to separate files, camera slate is consistantly ahead of video when played from either timeline or viewer through speakers and seen on 20L5 monitor using Y Pb Pr from K Box, unfortunately my 2.7 mac will not run on 10.3.9, only Tiger, and Final Cut 4.5 will not run on Tiger,

System for sale, best of everything, small caviot, doesn’t run.

Works fine as long as you don’t need timecode, trust me, I thought it would work too…
