    Nope –

XDCam captures the images as files. Using the XDCam capture software, you just import the files to a folder and away you go. Every time you stop and start it starts a new file, but you don’t really lose any footage. You do need to allow 2-3 seconds of pre-roll unless you’ve set up the 10-second flash memory capture…otherwise your subject may be missing the first couple words of a sentence.

I’ve had FCS2 nearly since it was first released last year at NAB in Vegas, and I’ve never had any serious issues. There was one time when Color refused to open, but that doesn’t happen anymore – don’t know why. Motion 3 is worth the price of admission alone, but then when you add Color as well as the new tools in FCP (Smoothcam, Motion functionality in FCP), I wouldn’t want to go back to FCS1. I never wanted to mess with Motion in FCS1, but now that it has a 3-D engine (more like a 2.5D engine, but even that’s nice), I find myself turning to Motion much more often than I ever did.

As far as streaming goes, I’m under the impression that if you want to stream Quicktime, the server you use must have the ability to stream Quicktime -yes? I know many ISPs that stream Windows, but not many in our area that have QT streaming servers. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Also – Paul – you have my dream job, Dude. I do a little outdoor stuff, but not enough. Check out outdoorohio.com.

YES – that’s what I needed to see. What I had attempted to do was create a mask from the letters I typed in, but I was having trouble making that happen. Thanks for the tip!
