    Hello,

I am considering upgrading to Final Cut Studio 2 from FCS 1. Some of the features look really great, however when I went to the Apple store I saw some awfully bad reviews that made me think I was much better off staying with FCS 1 and avoiding a slew of problems. I was wondering if any of you who have used FCS 2 extensively could give me some first-hand experience about the truth of the matter. Is it better to stay away from until Apple gets the bugs worked out?

    Many thanks

We are just getting started with 2 FCS2 setups.
    2 computers installed fine –
1 computer was very buggy – and after 5 atempts – we finally gave up on the master install and ran each install off of each disc by itself.

So far I really haven’t noticed anything terrible – but we are only a month in. Compressor seems to be having problems in one unit.

I’ve had to switch back and forth between 5.1.4 and 6.0.2 for some projects and I can’t say that FCP is more stable in one than the other. But whenever I’m in 5.1.4, I keep trying to do things that I can do in 6.0.2 which makes remember how much I like the FCP upgrade.

I’ve had FCS2 nearly since it was first released last year at NAB in Vegas, and I’ve never had any serious issues. There was one time when Color refused to open, but that doesn’t happen anymore – don’t know why. Motion 3 is worth the price of admission alone, but then when you add Color as well as the new tools in FCP (Smoothcam, Motion functionality in FCP), I wouldn’t want to go back to FCS1. I never wanted to mess with Motion in FCS1, but now that it has a 3-D engine (more like a 2.5D engine, but even that’s nice), I find myself turning to Motion much more often than I ever did.
