If you’re using one of the OSX flavors, look in your applications folder for a folder called Snapz Pro X. Inside that you’ll find the basic screen capture program along with information how to use the program and how to upgrade.

I’d suggest writing for a demo copy and playing around with it. There’s also some tutorials on their site that explains the technique. Then make the judgement whether or not it’s what you need.
