Activity Forums VEGAS Pro Seeing red

I didn’t find an appropriate forum for this question, so I’ll take my chances here.

It’s really a minor issue, but up until a few days ago, my name used to appear in red in the listings on the Vegas forum. That’s no longer the case, and it’s much harder to scroll through the messages and find my questions, responses, and related posts.

Is this possibly something that I’ve changed, or is the system no longer doing this?

Maybe I’m just old and crazy. Yeah, that must be it.

As soon as I posted this (previous) question, my name suddenly appeared in red throughout the listings. I just don’t get it. Can someone explain this to a weak-minded senior citizen?

    Posting probably reset your cookies.

Another way to reset the cookie is by going to:

    https://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/new_page_wrapper.cgi?forumid=24&page=/interface/new_interface/cookie_builder.html

You didn’t see “red” because it didn’t know who you were.

I’ve also had this problem for a month or more – I have to either make a post and input my name and email or reset cookies at the site Edward posted before my name turns red.

If I close down the browser (Opera) and reopen, the same problem returns and I have to manually correct it. Other sites such as Sony’s still recognise me automatically.

I’ve had some recognition problems on other forums when using a “nonstandard” browser (FireFox). Video University, for example, required a login at each visit, despite having cookies set.

    I’m back to using IE.

I use Firefox and have never had this problem with Creative Cow.

Works fine in Firefox here, and I would never go back to IE, IE isn’t really a browser it is a spy-ware and virus delivery vehicle.

Ed, is bang on when he says it didn’t know who you were! This happens if, like me, you like to keep a sqeeky clean system and delete your cookies regularily. As soon as you post again using your name and email address a cookie is deposited on to your system……….showing who you are………and stays there until you delete cookies. Certainly nothing to be concerned about. If you want to see your name in “Red” don’t delete your cookies. If you want to delete your cookies to keep your system clean, then post an answer to something before you check your other posts. simple as that!

    Rob,

I don’t knowingly delete cookies, yet I have to tell the Cow who I am each new opening of the browser – once a day usually.

The strange thing is that the Cow remembers which posts I’ve already read, and it knows my time zone, so it does sort of know who I am, but no red name till I reset cookies.

I don’t think the Cow tracks which posts you have read, the browser does through your history. What seems to happen is that your browser expires your cookies after some time frame. Check your settings for how long your browser stores your cookie.
