Oh, yes, that’s right. Thanks, that helps a lot. I’ll keep this in mind when working on future projects.

Ah, ok. If this happens automatically, that would be perfect. But strange enough, this morning I rendered my movie without manually updating the files, and it kept the old file which had been changed meanwhile. No automatical reflection. 🙁 So I guess, something went wrong.
I also had two layers which could not be manually updated. I had to relink them to get the changes in AE. Might be a similar problem.
Well, anyways, at least I know that AE doesn’t indicate a change, and I will look for a script and post it as soon as I find domething useful.
Thanks, Dave, have a good day.

Thanks, Dave.
Yes, I know about the ways to replace footage. But I’m talkiing about reloading. I know how to do that either, but the point is, I don’t know WHICH footage has been changed by my associate while I’ve been away. I use AI vector layers which don’t change dimensions or anything. Just small corrections like text or color. I just want to update my associate’s changes. What I’m looking for is something like an automatic reminder, which original footage has been changed meanwhile. For now she has to write me notes like “I have changed layer 01 in file name.ai and layer xyz in file nameless.ai” etc. for she has no access to my After Effects. The principle: She prepares the Illustrator files, I use them in After Effects. -

June 15, 2010 at 6:09 pm in reply to: Replacing a single instance of a footage itemErm, sorry, now it works just fine with my test files. Dunno what went wrong (or right in this case). Sorry for bothering. I’m happy for now!

June 15, 2010 at 6:05 pm in reply to: Replacing a single instance of a footage itemHi,
how about .ai or .eps footage? There the replacing function does not seem to work. Anybody know why or how I can work around this?
I have imported an AI as a composition and would now like to replace the single layers with those of another AI aomp to keep the length and transparency settings etc. -
Ah OK, that works fine. Thanks. A little tricky to understand the logic behind it, but it works. Yay.

November 27, 2009 at 6:14 pm in reply to: Bubbles in foam effect have outline that I don’t wantThanks. Yes, I read all this before. I went through each of the parameters and am pretty sure about what they do. Logically it’s pretty clear to me. I also tried different settings without success. Either it’s a rendering issue of the effect or I oversaw something. About “strange outlines” they don’t write anything in the help document. 🙂 Well, maybe there is anybody who had a similar issue?

And… is there a way to move all markers at the same time to the correct position to keep the relation?

I now got rid of the “Auto” Framerate in the project presets to 24 (I haven’t started switching to 25 yet). Then I reboot AE and made a new composition and copy-pasted the layers in it (which I tried before), and it worked now! Cool. This might have done the trick. But with the pingpong-problem (see https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/202/884005), unfortunately the trick did not work out. Well, I’ll keep on trying to find out a solution.
