These suggestions are kind of extreme. The filters are just probably turned off in your preferences. Go to that sequence’s preferences (right click on the sequence in the Browser and select “Setting” from the pop-up menu.) Click on the “Render Control” tab. Make sure that the box next to “Filters” is checked under the “Render and Playback” section. You’ll probably have to render the entire timeline. I’m running 7 but I’m pretty sure this holds true for 5 as well.

Exactly how many seconds do you need to roll before batch capturing in FCP7? Every single time I try to batch capture a tape, it will not recognize the time code on the first and last clips, even though I leave a good margin of footage on either side. I’m currently trying to get it to start at 8 seconds into the tape, and that is not enough apparently. Can anyone tell me exactly how many seconds the program requires? Thanks, Kate

The footage is from my digital camera, a Canon SD 900 IS. It’s H.264 at 30fps. The sequence is “DV/DVC PRO – NTSC”. The item properties box for the still images have 29.97 as the video rate, but the clips are at 30. This is the only inconsistency I can find to explain the degradation of those still clips.

Quick update: I tried importing one psd file into After Effects and exporting as a quick time at 30fps, but this looks exactly the same as the still images once imported into final cut. Hmm.

Hi Dave, that info was very helpful to me as well. I am wondering – and this must sound quite stupid – how I go about changing the frame rate for image sequences in FCP? I have not been able to find that setting option.
