If you loose a disk you loose all raid partions anyway – so that’s not a big help

I use DP 2.0 with sonnet 4+4 and have 5 internal drives (I think seagate 7200.8 300gb) and can do 10bit 4:2:2 through-out the raid (no 4:4:4)

I have done this in 50i with aja HD SDI to component converter (because I wannted the analog signal cables to bel less than 15cm, juts to make sure that I would not introduce any analog noise from surroundings / and the sheer fact that I do not have a multibridge)
I captured 10bit and I can tell you right up that you will run into trouble with just 4 disk raid0 – adding one disk made it go away (not till the end of drive but at least 1.5h (300GB drives) )
Funny thing is that it is easyer to editin uncompressed than HDV on the coputer (in 10bit timline there are no RTfx /and using 8 bit timline with 10bit footage dosen’t help as well)
So in conclusion, can be done – storage is bit tricky (unless you want to bring an Xraid to the set) no HDCAM but way better than mpeg2 stream

The latest model of DP 2GHz is not PCI-X, sorry.
And apple/blackmagic have some unresolved issues with this mobo-Kaspar

1. In Fcp change clip aspect ratio (motion->distort->aspect ratio) to -33 so you would be using 4:3 with black bars on top and bottom. This will be RT, so will not need to render anything. When laying back to tape select all clips ctrl+clik->remove attributes and select distort -> now you will have anamorphic picture again.
2. Yes HD cards support SD as well

If your SD monitor suports SDI then you could use the expensive 4:4:4 HD pro card this has an option to output HD-SDI from first channel and SD-SDI from the second

On the note of downconversion on the 4:4:4 board (I talked about this@ IBC as well)
There is a problem with hardware downconversion on this card (at least there was @ version 5.0 and technician hasn’t heard the same complaint before)
if you choose hardware downconersion then channel 1 outputs HD-SDI 4:2:2 and channel 2 outputs SD-SDI with HD-SDI standard audio!, and it is also impossible to sync to SD source because the card is expecting HD sync – in software mode evrything runs fine though (so not a major problem)
About the system choking – I wouldn’t know about that because just last week I downconverted on the fly HDV 1080 50i to SD while using unlimited RT to have timecode burn-in on the image (running on 2.0GHz DP g5 3GB ram) 1 hour went without a hich – so hopefullty after some tweaking you get it to work and there really is no need for the more expensive card as you are not using 4:4:4
