    Thanks for responding Danny, No, there are no other cameras connected at the same time, and Yes, the camera was in VCR mode. Under Preview Device Tab (In Preferences) there is an option for OHCA Compliant IEEE-1394/DV, which I chose. The connection is acknowledged in the details box. But when I hit the “external monitor” button above the preview window the computer freezes up.
    (I never had trouble with this on my earlier computer using Vegas 5.)karl

    Thanks for responding. The digital 8 feeds out to the TV just fine with a tape playing. And when I tried a different camera, the same thing happened. I click the external monitor button over the preview window and the computer freezes up and I have to close the program. (And yes, the cameras were set to VCR.) karl

    Yes, It was set at 8,000,000. I set it for best picture quality. Do you think I should see a finished picture on the dvd that is as good or nearly as good as what I was seeing on my TV monitor while I was editing?
