Hello, I’m using a new computer (Vista 64 bit Home, ATI Radeon HD 3450) and every time I toggle to external monitor, the computer freezes up. I’ve set the Options/Preferences/Preview Device to OHCI compliant IEEE 1394/DV, and my computer seems to recognise “hot pluggable device connected”, I’m using a sony digital 8 with a video RCA jack to a television. It always used to work fine on my old computer. Any ideas? Preview works fine on the computer monitor but won’t appear on the TV monitor. Thanks, karl

Maybe your pass-through on the Digital 8 is not working. Do you have a different Analog/Digital converter you can try?

I don’t use Vista but XP and I use the Canopus ADVC100 converter box. I wouldn’t think that Vista is different.

Maybe try connecting the camera to a TV and play a tape ifyou have one to see if it works. How did you have the camera set? To VCR?

Thanks for responding. The digital 8 feeds out to the TV just fine with a tape playing. And when I tried a different camera, the same thing happened. I click the external monitor button over the preview window and the computer freezes up and I have to close the program. (And yes, the cameras were set to VCR.) karl

    Hi Karl
I see you reposted your question directly above. No need for that since you already have an active thread going here. It’ll confuse everyone 😉

I’m sorry but I can’t help you then, because I don’t use Vista and I’m not on a 64bit machine.

Someone else will have to jump in here to help you who’s familiar with 64 bit Vista.
