Thanks so much David. Just spoke to Phillip at Mac Mall. They have a couple left, but the clock speed is 2.5 gHz instead of 2.6. Is this a problem? He says it has the “better” Nvidia graphics card.

Also, should I upgrade to 4G of ram? It costs $125 extra there.

Is there a DVCPro HD Codec for quicktime??

Or do I just tell the folks who are providing the files to convert them to a more universal codec?

And do you or anyone else have a favorite firewire drive to recommend? Anything I should bear in mind when buying a firewire drive?

Thanks Jon. Couple more questions:

My laptop meets all the Avid recommended criterion except that my Pentium M processor speed is 1.5 Ghz instead of the recommended 1.8 Ghz. Might it still work on simple timelines with 1 video and 2 audio tracks?

Any advice on firewire drives?
