First thing that comes to mind is to duplicate the layer and make a white arrow on black background without transparency on the cylinder and use that layer as a track matte.

I would try and do this with a sub-comp at 1 fps with the echo effect on top of your main footage at original fps.

Box texture mapping will map that correctly without any need to add any background or adjust UV tiling settings. There’s a problem, however, with your PNG texture map which is that it has extra image information outside the image itself, i.e. transparent pixels at the edges, which make the image shrink and have a black border around it when applied as a texture in Element. So you need to remove the extra transparent edges, in Photoshop, by trimming off transparent pixels, before bringing it into AE.

Next idea: Time Remap every layer you want to do this with. Use one layer to set the time, pick-whip time value of that one layer for the rest. That way you can choose which layers will be affected, which won’t, skipping your footage layers, for instance.

  • Track the corners of the screen, attach CC Power Pin corner points to those track results and use the Unstretch option.

A bit less radical for a darker screen calibration or a twilight look.

Depends on your screen calibration how this looks, but perhaps more in this direction. The key is to darker the highlight end with curves so that while the sky remains the lightest, even it is mid blue or below. If the sky is the only source of light, it will look quite natural. It is possible to add some lighting to the shadow areas with shadows/hilites adjustment to compensate if they go too dark. But shadows do go very dark at night and unless you have artificial lighting, this is quite realistic.

  • The first thing I’d do is to change the blend mode to Normal and add a curves adjustment on the layer(s) that need the color boost. If curves alone seems too tricky, increasing saturation first might get you closer.

  • Channel mix (25 red 75 green) for luminosity and masked solids for color give you this. The rainbow effect is gone, but the focus area is still darker than the rest. Will moire again at anything other than 100% resolution, so better evaluated at actual size.

The way this is set up currently only works for these two colors. Little hard to predict from a still image how well it will work on footage. AE file linked below.
