Hi chaps. I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to obscure part of the inside layer of CC Cylinder? I have an arrow rotating around a device to show an unlocking movement, but of course as CC Cylinder isn’t true 3D, the device won’t obscure the arrow when it should move ‘behind’ it. I’d use a simple matte/inverse matte, but the arrowhead complicates matters there.

First thing that comes to mind is to duplicate the layer and make a white arrow on black background without transparency on the cylinder and use that layer as a track matte.

What I ended up doing is so obvious I’m embarrassed I didn’t think of it before posting. The arrow is actually made up of two components – the lighter orange front, and the darker orange back which has its X and Y rotation + position parented to the the front. It was a simple case of adding a square shape in between the two layers and making the bottom arrow use it as an inverse matte.
