I’d call that “animated mask reveal”.
You would need a solid layer above the text layer, draw one or two masks per letter on that layer, and animate the paths over time to reveal the letters as if they were “drawn on”. The animation could be a simple rectangles that pull out or a more complex shapes that reveal the letters as if someone was drawing them (all letters at the same time).
You would set the solid wiht the animated masks as the track matte for the text layer.

Right. Then you have to ensure that anything inside the precomp is also extended the entire length of the precomp.
Are you trying to simply add more frames to fill in the extra time OR are you time remapping something?

If you haven’t already, you could try simplifying the matter by using Premiere position keyframes to do the same motion.

See if Alt-parenting to the null does the trick.

Looks like you’re getting there, but as far as I can tell from your screenshot, you are using keyframes to blur the first digit (ones) and an expression to blur the next one (tens). Both should be done by expressions, and the expressions needs to also calculate how many frames from the point of switching the number you are for fade in and fade out. So they should be related to the same calculation you are using to increment the year (1985+time).

I would go with Quicktime, Codec: Animation, Quality: 100.
RGBA is 32-bit (which is the total number of bits, not the number of bits per channel.)For 32 bits per channel, you can only output to image sequences, but Premiere wont import 32 bits per channel.

Ok, I see that Element Version 1 indeed has this problem with AO shading at the edges. I managed to get rid of it by increasing the AO Cut-off (under Advanced Options) to 3, but had to compensate for it by increasing the radius to 2 to keep the look of the shadow otherwise similar.

Would look something like this (before and) after surface blur and fast blur. Don’t know if it is any good, it starts to blur out some of the softer edges of the silhouette as well.

It is anything but an obvious solution, so I’m not surprised if you had trouble with it.
