I have Resolve installed on a Mac Pro 09 with a GTX285 card installed to assist with CUDA processing. The Apple LED runs off the MP display port via the original video card and the Dream Color display runs off an internal BMD HDE 3 card via a BMD HD Link Pro.

It runs like a train in Japan. I am upgrading through.

Clearly it has paid off for Apple in the long run.

I can tell you for a fact, Apple works to fix and improve things very quickly behind the scenes and I am sure we will see movement in the not to distant future.

  • Of course I am not 100% happy with this at all, but we have to deal with it or move to another company / platform.

I guess what I am saying is,that after years of waiting to get to 64 bit, I think we can give another 6-8 weeks . Apple makes mistakes, but it also works to correct them. I know for a fact that they review and respond to user feedback.

Remember, Apple made money from the hardware associated with FCP, ie: Mac Pros etc. As we stand today, Mac Pros do not sell in volume at all. It may be a viable business model for Avid, but it represents a very small percentage of Apple’s income.

The next couple / few months will tell. Based on what I have heard, Apple is working on it, but who knows for sure. One thing which is clear, film and tape really is finally on the way out, whether we like it or not.

All I can say is WOW! … Thanks guys.

Knowledge and feedback money can’t buy, and if you could, I wouldn’t be able to afford it.

I think I will go for the ATTO.

    Thanks again.

  • Dear Walter

Thank you for your replay, I have decide to get a Kona 3, Mac Pro 2 x 23″ cinema displays and an AJA HDP connected to a Sony Bravia for playback only.

I think internal drives will be ok for this digibeta project speed wise. Will add an external raid and Colour correction monitor for the next project.

    Thanks again Kai
