If the 2ME is like the 1ME, you can’t load videos. It has to be still images or image sequences (for the two animated players)

July 10, 2012 at 1:48 am in reply to: ATEM 1 M/E Does Dual Picture in Picture (Side by Side)?A ‘cheat’ way to do it with a single DVE is to have a graphic overlay with a ‘hole’ to put over your studio cam, and then use the DVE for the remote shot. You’d need to have your camera panned over for the hole, but I see no reason why it wouldn’t work.
So, you’d have your camera as the PGM layer, USKey 1 would be your graphic with the alpha’d hole in it, and then USKey 2 would be your DVE camera. Or something like that, I don’t remember which order the upstream keys go in as far as top to bottom layers. You could have two holes in your graphic and fit the camera on one side and the DVE on the other, just to ensure the same size for both.

Teradek makes some promising gear as well. I managed to get LOS about 120 yrds 1080i with a decent antenna on the receive side. Fairly low latency, but not insignificant.

Have you tried the HDMI output adapter? Or using an Apple TV and mirroring the output? The latter has worked with our ATEM 1M/E, so I believe the former would as well.

Yes, the BMD De-embedders tend to make random popping noises when there is no input signal. If your input signal was just black with no audio, you’d get silence. Unfortunately when there is no signal, the card seems to interpret the lack of signal as ‘noise’ and make random popping noises. Our Ross switcher sees no input as digital ‘snow’ and I assume the BMD devices do something of the same.

May 9, 2012 at 4:20 pm in reply to: Interface the ATEM Camera Converter to an RTS SystemI’ve had this thought. Basically what you really need is a 2-wire to 4-wire interface. They can get pricy, but there are some units out there that you can ‘hack’ something together. If you can get the resistance right, in theory you could just have a beltpack / userstation above the camera converter base station and simply wire the headphone out / mic in between the beltpack and Camera Converter base station.

Have you changed the output of Aux1 on the ATEM to something other than bars? Also, have you tried running UltraScope to see if you get the video you’re expecting?

April 25, 2012 at 12:33 pm in reply to: analog to sdi mini converter audio format questionI’m honestly not sure what ‘standard’ it is, but the mini converter does embed audio on the SDI signal. We have a couple of the units and it works with other gear we have that works with SDI embedded audio.
I’d ask if there’s an audio menu on your capture card that lets you select which source of audio you’re using, and also check the mini converter to make sure you’re embedding the audio on channels 1+2 in group one of the embedded audio.

I believe it’s an XFX Radeon HD 4600. It is a single slot dual-dvi card.

I’m using one of the lower-end ATIs off the compatible cards list. I had to use older drivers to correctly work with the Ultrascope at the time. I’m not running the latest Ultrascope drivers, so the requirements may be a little looser.
